Frontline Spot On Cats is a spot-on solution designed to protect cats against fleas and ticks. Each pack contains three 0.5 ml pipettes, specially formulated to facilitate correct application on the cat's coat. The use of this pesticide ensures a prolonged duration of action which keeps your cat safe from infestations by eliminating adult fleas within 24 hours of application and ticks within 48 hours. The spot-on format is simple to apply to the base of the neck and guarantees uniform distribution through the sebaceous glands of the skin, thus offering a reliable protective barrier. The product is suitable for all cats, including pregnant or breastfeeding females, from an age of 8 weeks and weighing at least 1 kg. The treatment continued over time, administered every 4 weeks, promotes the animal's well-being by reducing the risk of allergies caused by parasites and the transmission of diseases by fleas and ticks. The solution is odorless and does not grease the fur, thus avoiding any discomfort for the cat and its human companions.
Therapeutic Indications
Frontline Spot On Cats is mainly indicated for the prevention and treatment of flea (Ctenocephalides felis) and tick (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Dermacentor varias) infestations in domestic cats. The product also protects against the reappearance of fleas for up to 4 weeks and ticks for 2 weeks. It is also used as part of the treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD), significantly reducing itching and associated skin lesions. Regular application prevents not only visible infestations but also hidden ones, acting on the entire life cycle of parasites. It is particularly useful in case of massive infestation of the home environment by fleas. The treatment can be included in integrated management programs that also include other cohabiting animals. It is used both as a prevention in high-risk animals and as a curative intervention in already infested subjects, thanks to the rapid action of its spot-on formulation.
Composition
Active ingredient: Each 0.5 ml pipette contains Fipronil in quantities calibrated for the typical weight and metabolism of the cat. Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide that acts by contact with the nervous system of parasites, causing their rapid and safe death without being absorbed systemically in the cat.
Excipients: In addition to the active ingredient, the composition of the solution includes solvents and stabilizing agents that facilitate skin application and uniform distribution on the body. These components guarantee the preservation of the organoleptic properties and ensure that the active ingredient remains effective and stable throughout the entire shelf life.
It is free of added fragrances and does not contain dyes, minimizing the risks of adverse reactions related to the skin sensitivity of animals.
Contraindications
The product should not be used on kittens under 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 1kg. Administration to subjects known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients is also not recommended. The application must not take place on sick, debilitated animals or with extensive skin lesions. It should also be avoided in cases of previous reactions to similar preparations that have caused irritation, redness or other dermal effects. It is important to avoid contact of the product with the animal's eyes and mouth, as it could cause irritation. Do not use simultaneously with other topical pesticides containing similar substances to avoid the risk of overdose or powerful skin reactions.
Safety of the drug for the species
The safety profile of Frontline Spot On Cats has been evaluated on both adult and young animals, including pregnancy and lactation, with no evidence of severe side effects in recommended use. Rarely, some cats may experience local reactions such as moderate itching, temporary redness, alopecia or greasiness in the application area, which tend to resolve spontaneously within 24-48 hours. Accidental ingestion, if the cat licks the application site, may cause brief salivation and transient discomfort. It does not influence the normal physiological functions of the animal and does not alter sensory capacity or appetite during the treatment period. Correct application thus reduces any risk to a minimum, making the product safe even for environments with children who come into contact with the treated animal.
Precautions
After application, avoid petting or handling the cat until the application site is dry, thus preventing accidental transfer of the solution onto hands or objects. It is recommended not to wash the animal for the following 48 hours to ensure maximum effectiveness of the active ingredient. Keep the product out of the reach of children and store unused pipettes in the original packaging. Use protective gloves if you are sensitive or frequently handle the product, and wash your hands thoroughly after use. Do not let treated cats come into intimate contact with infants or small children until the solution is completely absorbed.
Method of administration
To obtain maximum benefit, the pipette should be applied directly to the skin after parting the hair at the base of the neck, between the shoulder blades. Gently press the pipette until all the solution has been distributed. Avoid applying to areas where the cat may lick and ensure that other pets do not lick the application site. Do not dilute or mix the contents of the pipettes with other products before use. Regular application is essential for complete and constant protection.
Treatment program
The treatment must be repeated every 4 weeks, especially in periods with a high incidence of flea and tick infestations, such as spring and summer. In case of risk or continuous presence of parasites, the monthly program can be followed throughout the year. It is good practice to treat all cohabiting animals at the same time and adopt environmental sanitization measures to avoid cyclical reinfestations. In subjects with flea allergy dermatitis, the consecutive treatment cycle can help control itching and associated skin symptoms, until remission of clinical manifestations is achieved. In particularly infested environments, thorough cleaning may be necessary, combining the treatment with the use of other environmental products.
