Therapeutic indications
Indicated for the therapy and prevention of roundworm and hookworm infestations in puppies and adult dogs.
Dosage and administration
It should be administered in a single time without keeping the dog on an empty stomach and without requiring it to follow a particular diet. The palatability of nemex allows you to spread the preparation on the animal's teeth with a finger or with a spatula for laryngological use. Expert hands can administer nemex by directly dragging the tube over the animal's teeth. In the case of unsociable or restless animals, Nemex can be administered mixed with food. Dose: 14.5 mg of pyrantel pamoate equal to 5 mg of pyrantel base per kg of the dog's body weight. Method of administration: for ease of use, depending on the type used, the following dosage is recommended: 16 g syringe: one mark on the syringe for every 2 kg of the dog's weight. The contents of a 16 gram syringe are sufficient to treat dogs weighing up to 24 kg. 10 g and 24 g tube: 2 cm of paste (equal to 14.5 mg of pyrantel pamoate) for every kg of the dog's weight. The contents of a 10 gram tube are therefore sufficient for the treatment of dogs weighing up to 15 kg; the contents of a 24 gram tube are sufficient to treat dogs weighing up to 36 kg. Prophylaxis: prophylaxis is carried out to keep the dog free from worms and avoid the risk of infestation for humans (particularly children) by dogs affected by worms. Furthermore, prophylactic treatment with nemex allows the dog to: be more resistant to other diseases; tolerate fatigue more with the consequent possibility of better performances; have a more alert sensorium; have a better general appearance, in particular with shinier fur. Prophylaxis program: puppies: one treatment at the age of 10–14 days, to be repeated between 4 and 8 weeks of age. Remember in particular the primary importance of pre-vaccination treatment since the presence of parasites is able to interfere with the establishment of solid vaccination immunity. Females: one treatment 15 days before mating; a second treatment one week before giving birth; a third treatment 4 weeks after giving birth. This series of interventions tends to avoid infestation of the puppies during pregnancy and subsequently, after giving birth, through the colostrum and milk sucked by the mother during the first days of life. Competition dogs: a treatment 15-20 days before the competition. Hunting dogs: a treatment 15-20 days before the hunting season. All other dogs: a treatment at the beginning of spring, to be repeated at the beginning of autumn. Treatment of roundworm and hookworm infestations: the treatment must be carried out immediately every time the presence of parasites is ascertained and repeated 2-3 weeks later.
