Dosage and administration
How to clean dog and cat ears?
- Open the vial by turning the plastic cap.
- Lift the ear from the upper edge and direct the contents of the vial towards the inside of the ear canal by firmly pressing the vial to instill half or all of the contents, as needed.
- Massage the base of the ear for a few seconds to encourage contact of the cleaning solution with the ear.
- Apply Otoclean into each ear canal of the dog or cat in a sufficient quantity based on the size of the animal.
- In large animals, apply one vial (5 ml) in each ear. In small or medium-sized animals, it is possible to divide the contents of a vial between the two ears.
- Leave otoclean to act without applying other substances in the ear for at least 30 minutes.
In breeds predisposed to otitis due to the anatomy of the auricle (cocker, setter, poodle, etc,...), it is convenient to apply otoclean periodically.
A routine weekly application is recommended, to keep the external ear canal in optimal conditions.
In animals that have large accumulations of dirt or wax, there is usually an unpleasant odor coming from the ears.
In these cases, apply the product in each ear canal every 24 hours, for 8 consecutive days and then reduce the applications (every 2-3 days) based on the response observed, until complete hygiene of the ear canals is achieved.
In animals with ear infections, to improve the efficiency of the antibacterial or therapeutic products to be applied, it is advisable to clean the ear canal by eliminating the accumulation of dirt, wax or secretions.
Similarly, 30 minutes before applying a therapeutic ear solution, it is best to clean both ears with otoclean.
