Description

Therapeutic indications

Drotal Gatto is a non-prescription dewormer for cats, which helps treat mixed infestations by roundworms and tapeworms, caused in particular by:

  • Ascarids: toxocara cati, toxascaris leonina
  • Hookworms: ancylostoma tubaeforme, ancylostoma braziliense
  • Cestodes: echinococcus granulosus, echinococcus multilocularis, dipylidium caninum, taenia spp., Mesocestoides spp., Joyeuxiella spp.

Thanks to the combination of the two active ingredients, Praziquantel and Pirantel, the Drontal tablets for cats perform a rapid anthelmintic function: cat parasites are eliminated after 48 hours.

Dosage and administration

The dewormer must be administered in a single time, orally. 

The tablets are flavored and highly palatable for ease of administration. However, they can be mixed with food you like, if necessary. 

The dosage involves the administration of one tablet for every 4 kg of the animal's weight. 

The tablet can be divided as needed.

The dewormer can be administered starting from the first month of the cat's life, according to the veterinarian's instructions.

Warnings and Contraindications

Drontal must not be administered to pregnant cats, nor to subjects allergic to the active ingredients or with renal or hepatic debility.

When administering the dewormer to your cat, it is not necessary to follow any particular diet.

It is advisable to carry out a parasitological examination before repeating the treatment, and to contact your veterinarian for information on the administration interval.

The tapeworm infestation in cats does not appear before the third week of life, before which the administration of Drontal is not indicated.

Some species of cat intestinal parasites, for example Echinococci, are also dangerous for humans, it is advisable to consult an expert to avoid complications related to cat echinococcosis.
