Fly Set 19G butterfly needle, sterile and easy to use, guarantees quick and safe withdrawals and infusions. Ideal for medical practices, laboratories and hospitals, even for fragile patients.

Description

The Fly Set 19G butterfly needle is a device specially designed to facilitate blood sampling or intravenous fluid administration. This type of needle, also known as butterfly needle or butterfly needle, is particularly appreciated in the healthcare sector thanks to the ergonomic design of its wings which facilitate its insertion and stability in the vein. The 19G size, with its specific caliber, guarantees the right compromise between adequate flow and minimization of tissue trauma. The kit contains 100 pieces, so as to meet the needs of medical practices, analysis laboratories and hospital departments where it is necessary to always have sterile and ready-to-use instruments available. Each needle is designed to be disposable and guarantee high safety standards for the patient and the healthcare worker during each procedure.

The Fly Set 19G is individually packaged, sterile, to offer maximum hygiene from opening to administration or sampling. The flexible wings allow a firm grip and allow you to easily fix the needle on the patient's skin with a plaster or simple pressure. The connecting tube is made of soft and transparent material, thus allowing visual monitoring of blood or fluids and reducing the risk of accidental bending during handling. The ergonomic handle promotes comfort even in cases of prolonged sampling and in situations that require high precision, such as in pediatric, elderly or fragile patients, where control is essential to limit discomfort and pain.

The 100-piece format makes this set particularly suitable in high-use contexts, always ensuring the availability of the instrument and limiting interruptions in clinical procedures. Thanks to the quality of the construction materials and the micrometric sharpening of the tip, the Fly Set 19G allows rapid and precise venous access, improving the patient experience and reducing complications related to invasive maneuvers.

Therapeutic Indications

The Fly Set 19G is intended for venipuncture for the collection of venous blood or for the intravenous infusion of drugs and solutions. The device is used both for laboratory diagnostic tests and for the controlled administration of liquids in hospital and outpatient settings. It is particularly suitable for patients with veins that are difficult to find, such as children, cancer patients, the elderly or people with fragile venous walls, thanks to its thin tip and the optimal control guaranteed by the side fins. It offers an effective solution when you need to avoid vein rupture or minimize pain and discomfort.

The versatility of the butterfly needle allows it to be used both for single venous access and for short infusions, adapting well to particular procedures such as small volume transfusions, administration of contrast agents, performing multiple samples or accessing superficial veins. The needle, once inserted, can be easily fixed to the skin to avoid involuntary movements during subsequent manipulations, thus protecting the venous access site and minimizing the risk of leaks or hematomas. The use of the Fly Set needle is recommended, subject to evaluation by the doctor, in all clinical situations in which rapid, controlled and safe sampling or administration is necessary.

The presence of a flexible cannula connected to the needle further reduces the risk of sudden movements and makes this device indispensable not only for expert personnel, but also in the home environment when vascular access requires simple, rapid and reliable procedures. The 19G Butterfly needle represents the reference choice for all procedures that require precision, sensitivity to pain and reliability in peripheral venous access.

Composition

Main components: Each Fly Set 19G butterfly needle is made of medical-grade stainless steel to ensure maximum resistance to corrosion and transparency to pathogens. The tip is sharpened with advanced technology to quickly penetrate the skin and vein wall, thus reducing the sensation of pain and the risk of local injury. The side wings are shaped in flexible polypropylene, latex-free and made of hypoallergenic material to minimize local reactions during prolonged contact with the skin.

The connector tube, generally between 15 and 30 cm long, is made of transparent, phthalate-free medical PVC, ensuring maximum flexibility and resistance to twisting. At one end the needle with flexible wings is fixed while at the other there is a standard Luer connection, compatible with most blood collection systems, vacuum tubes and infusion devices. Each Fly Set is individually packaged in a sterile sealed polyethylene blister to preserve its integrity until use. The materials in the set are tested for biocompatibility and comply with regulations on direct contact with blood and body fluids.

The entire structure is designed to ensure practical and safe use on all patient groups. The absence of external metallic components, in addition to the needle, guarantees safety even in a diagnostic environment with the presence of electro-medical instruments.

Contraindications

The Fly Set 19G butterfly needle should not be used in case of known allergy or hypersensitivity to the constituent materials (stainless steel, polypropylene, medical PVC). The device is not recommended in cases of extremely compromised, excluded, sclerotic or fistulized veins, where needle insertion could increase the risk of vessel rupture, hematoma or local complications.

It is not suitable for prolonged infusions or use as central venous access, nor should it be used in patients with severe coagulation disorders without careful medical evaluation. Improper use, such as attempting to reuse the disposable device, can lead to risks of infection, cross-contamination or loss of sterility, therefore it is essential to dispose of the needle in appropriate sharps containers immediately after each use.

The device is also contraindicated in intraosseous venous access procedures and must not be forced in case of particular resistance to the venous passage during venipuncture. In very anxious or uncooperative patients, use must be carefully evaluated by expert healthcare personnel to avoid psychological or physical trauma.

Device security

The Fly Set 19G is produced according to rigorous safety standards and subjected to quality controls that guarantee sterility and the absence of structural defects. Each individual package is marked to ensure the integrity of the blister until the moment of use. The ergonomic design reduces the risk of accidental punctures during preparation and positioning, while the transparency of the tube allows you to check in real time for the presence of blood or any air bubbles, thus preventing errors in sampling or infusion procedures.

The device is designed to minimize the risk of venous occlusions and guarantee stability of access, even in patients who may move during the procedure. The exclusively disposable use eliminates the risk of cross-contamination between patients. The fins guarantee both stabilization and the possibility of fixing the cannula with different types of bandages without compromising safety.

The raw materials used are selected according to international standards for biocompatible safety and the device is free of substances with a toxic, allergenic or skin irritant action.

Precautions

The use of the butterfly needle requires adequate technique to avoid venous damage or local infections. Before use, an assessment of the patient's venous status and the adoption of all aseptic precautions to reduce the risk of infection is recommended.

The operator must wear surgical gloves and carefully disinfect the insertion area. Immediately after use, the needle should be disposed of in sharps/contaminated object containers. In case of heavy bleeding or accidental needle leakage, compression should be applied immediately to the venous site.

The device must not be used for deep venous access or in the presence of skin infections in the area to be punctured. In newborns, pediatric patients or particularly fragile people, the procedures must be performed by qualified personnel and with additional fixation means.

The needle should not be manipulated after insertion to avoid accidental puncture and it remains essential to continuously monitor the patient for signs of pain, swelling or adverse reactions until the set is definitively removed.

Method of administration

For correct use, the Fly Set 19G must be prepared by opening the sterile package without touching the tip of the needle or the internal part of the wings. The patient is invited to clench his fist to facilitate distension of the vein, then the skin is disinfected and the needle is inserted at an angle of approximately 15-30 degrees with respect to the skin plane. Once venous access has been confirmed, the tube is connected to the desired collection or infusion system, maintaining constant control of the position and any venous return.

The fins can be held between thumb and forefinger or fixed directly to the skin to offer greater stability. At the end of the procedure, the needle must be carefully removed and thrown into the sharps container without replacing the safety cap on the tip.

The entire procedure must be performed with sterile materials and according to the operating instructions of the institution where the maneuver is performed. In the event of involuntary patient movements, the flexible tube ensures access is maintained, reducing traumatic stress on the venous wall.

Treatment program

The Fly Set 19G needle is a disposable device which, for safety reasons, must be used on a single patient and for a single intravenous collection or administration procedure. It can be used whenever there is a need for rapid and safe peripheral venous access, with particular attention to the selection of the appropriate caliber also depending on the fragility of the subject's veins.

The device is used both in routine sampling programs and in case of need for quick infusions, such as transfusions, short-term intravenous therapies, or in multiple sampling programs, taking advantage of the ease with which the Fly Set can be replaced and disposed of without risks for staff and patients.

The needle is also used in home therapy protocols, in day hospital settings and in hematology laboratories where there is a need for frequent sample collection. However, each procedure must be authorized and monitored by qualified healthcare personnel, with observation of adverse reactions and any local or systemic complications.

Target species

The Fly Set 19G is intended exclusively for human use, in adult, pediatric and elderly patients who require peripheral venous access for blood sampling or rapid and controlled administration of drugs and intravenous solutions. Its characteristics make it suitable for both outpatient and hospital use, in emergency departments, oncology, geriatrics, pediatrics and in all areas where venipuncture represents a frequent practice in routine care.
