The 7.5cm Prowrap Band is a device specifically designed to provide protection and support to animals, making it particularly suitable for veterinary use. This self-adhesive elastic band adapts perfectly to the shape of different areas of the animal's body, ensuring safe and stable coverage without causing excessive constraints or discomfort. Thanks to its delicate composition, the Prowrap Fascia is suitable for both outpatient and home use, allowing you to effectively protect wounds, surgical incisions or areas exposed to trauma. The high quality material it is made of offers an ideal combination of resistance and flexibility, allowing animals to move freely without risk of slipping or loss of grip. The seamless edge minimizes the risk of skin irritation. Furthermore, the product is designed to be easily cut or torn without the need for scissors, greatly facilitating the application and removal procedures.
Therapeutic Indications
The Prowrap 7.5 cm band is particularly suitable for the support and stabilization of different types of bandages, effectively fixing dressings, splints and braces on the joints and other anatomical portions of small animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits and other pets. It is used to guarantee post-surgical protection of the treated areas, preventing wound contamination and limiting the possibility of the animal licking or biting the injured area. Thanks to its elasticity, the Prowrap Band adapts to animal body dynamics, following movements and maintaining a constant level of compression without hindering blood circulation. It can also be used in temporary immobilization protocols and for the containment of localized edema and swelling, offering calibrated pressure on the site without the risk of strangulation. It is therefore ideal in cases where a muscular or joint support action is required, for example for sprains, strains or after minor traumatic events.
Composition
The Prowrap 7.5 cm band is made with latest generation synthetic materials, specially selected to guarantee resistance, elasticity and skin tolerability. The main component is the elasticized non-woven fabric, composed of intertwined polyester and polyurethane fibres, which give great versatility and elastic return capacity even after repeated stress. The internal side of the band is treated with a latex-free adhesive that adheres only to itself, avoiding any risk of attachment to hair, skin or wounds and is therefore also suitable for animals with sensitive or reactive skin. This type of composition ensures that the band stays in place without the need for additional fixings or clips. The micro-perforated structure promotes breathability, reducing sweating and preventing maceration of the underlying tissues during prolonged application.
Contraindications
Despite the high safety profile, the Prowrap 7.5 cm Band should not be used in case of known hypersensitivity towards any of the components, in particular towards the synthetic materials used in the production of the fabric or the adhesive used. Avoid application on animals with extensive skin lesions, dermatitis in the acute phase, evident presence of infections or in case of undiagnosed allergic states. The use of the bandage is not indicated as a primary bandage on open or infected wounds, but it must always be positioned over a sterile and suitable dressing to avoid the risk of aggravating the skin condition or interfering with the healing process. Prolonged use without regular veterinary checks is not recommended, especially in cases of use on young, elderly or chronically ill animals where circulation or skin sensitivity is compromised.
Safety of the drug for the species
The use of the Prowrap 7.5 cm Band has been assessed as compatible with the needs of most domestic animal species, as the material is designed to minimize any risk of abrasion, irritation or local overheating. The product does not release toxic or potentially irritating substances in contact with intact skin, even in conditions of prolonged application. The particular self-adhesive structure does not involve the risk of hair loss or traction damage to the surrounding tissues, even on long-haired animals or those with delicate skin. However, it is recommended to regularly monitor the application site, especially in animals that tend to lick or bite the band, to avoid the onset of adverse reactions or accidental ingestion of fragments.
Precautions
When using the Prowrap 7.5 cm Fascia, it is important to avoid excessively tightening the band, so as not to alter microcirculation or cause excessive compression on the underlying soft tissues. If swelling, color change, pain or increase in local temperature appears, remove the band immediately and consult your veterinarian. After application, always check that the band is well fixed but does not impede the animal's normal movements, and check frequently that there are no signs of irritation or excessive sweating. It is advisable to wash your hands after handling the bandage and, in the presence of potentially infectious substances on the surfaces of the animal's body, use disposable gloves when changing the dressing.
Method of administration
For correct use, cut or unroll the desired length of Fascia Prowrap according to the dimensions of the area to be treated. Apply without excessively pulling the tape, starting from the end furthest from the heart to avoid hindering venous reflux in case of application to the limbs. Proceed with light overlapping turns, making sure that the band adheres only to itself, wrapping the area with uniform pressure and without creases. The band can be easily removed by pulling or tearing it following the direction of the weave. It is recommended to replace the Prowrap Band at least once a day, or when it appears excessively stretched, dirty or damp. Do not reuse segments already applied.
Treatment program
The use program of the Prowrap 7.5 cm Band can vary significantly depending on the clinical needs of the animal and veterinary indications. In cases of post-surgery or wound protection, the bandage should be applied every time the primary dressing is changed, usually on a daily basis or more frequently in the presence of abundant exudate. For joint support in minor traumas, replacement can take place every two or three days, always monitoring the state of the treated area. In case of use to contain edema or swelling, the application should be continued until the symptoms completely regress, with constant checks by the veterinarian to avoid complications. Do not continue treatment beyond the recommended period without specialist evaluation.
Target species
The Prowrap 7.5 cm Band is suitable for dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents and other pets. It can also be used on larger animals after adapting the tape to the area to be treated. It adapts to any age group and breed thanks to its versatility, tolerability and ease of application in emergency situations or in daily therapeutic management procedures for pets.
