This solution is also indicated for the prevention and treatment of metabolic acidosis, thanks to the presence of lactate, which converts into bicarbonate in hepatic metabolism, thus helping to normalize blood pH. Furthermore, it can be used for the recovery of extracellular volume in patients who present hypovolemia or hypovolemic shock, also associated with fluid seizures or hemorrhages.
Ringer Lattato is also useful in supporting intensive care and for the management of complex clinical conditions that require a balanced and constant supply of electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium and chlorides, leaving the internal balance intact and promoting hemodynamic stability.
Its effectiveness also extends to cases of surgical interventions, during and after anesthesia, to maintain water and mineral stability, reducing the risk of complications due to hydrosaline imbalances.
Composition
Lactated Ringer's solution is composed of a careful blend of essential electrolytes in balanced concentrations for intravenous administration. Contraindications
Ringer Lactate is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to one or more components of the solution, in particular to sodium lactate, which can cause allergic reactions in predisposed individuals. It should not be used in patients with metabolic alkalosis, as the addition of bicarbonate derived from lactate could aggravate the condition.
It is also contraindicated in cases of severe liver failure, since the conversion of lactate into bicarbonate could be compromised, causing an accumulation of lactate in the blood (lactaacidosis). Patients with hyperkalemia should avoid administration of the solution due to the presence of potassium, which could exacerbate the imbalance.
