Ringer Lattato is a rehydrating solution that helps replenish fluids and electrolytes, ideal for dogs, cats, cattle and horses, correcting dehydration and acidotic states.

Description

Ringer Lactate is a rehydration solution for intravenous use, formulated to balance electrolytes and body fluids in patients who need water replenishment and improvement of electrolyte balance. It is administered via a 5000 ml bag, ideal for intensive care or for patients who need large quantities of liquids.

The composition of Ringer's Lactate is designed to quickly and effectively restore fluid volumes lost due to dehydration, hemorrhages, burns or other medical conditions that induce water and electrolyte imbalances.

This solution is indicated for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients and can be used in various critical conditions such as hypovolemic shock, acute renal failure and other medical emergencies that require immediate electrolyte and water balance.

Therapeutic Indications

Ringer Lactate is indicated for rehydration, balancing electrolytes and maintaining the state of homeostasis in patients with significant loss of body fluids. It is used in water and electrolyte depletions resulting from vomiting, diarrhea, profuse sweating, acute trauma, burns, surgery and other pathological conditions involving plasma volume deficits and metabolic imbalances.

This solution is also indicated for the prevention and treatment of metabolic acidosis, thanks to the presence of lactate, which converts into bicarbonate in hepatic metabolism, thus helping to normalize blood pH. Furthermore, it can be used for the recovery of extracellular volume in patients who present hypovolemia or hypovolemic shock, also associated with fluid seizures or hemorrhages.

Ringer Lattato is also useful in supporting intensive care and for the management of complex clinical conditions that require a balanced and constant supply of electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium and chlorides, leaving the internal balance intact and promoting hemodynamic stability.

Its effectiveness also extends to cases of surgical interventions, during and after anesthesia, to maintain water and mineral stability, reducing the risk of complications due to hydrosaline imbalances.

Composition

Lactated Ringer's solution is composed of a careful blend of essential electrolytes in balanced concentrations for intravenous administration. The main components include sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride and sodium lactate, dissolved in sterile water for medical use, thus obtaining an isotonic preparation that is physiologically compatible with human plasma.

The presence of sodium lactate is fundamental as it acts as a metabolic buffer and allows hepatic conversion into bicarbonate, thus effectively counteracting acidotic states. Sodium, present in optimal concentrations, contributes to the maintenance of osmotic pressure and extracellular volume.

Potassium, in balanced quantities, plays a vital role in maintaining muscle and nerve function, while calcium acts as a stabilizer of cell membranes and supports muscle contraction and blood clotting.

This composition makes the solution highly safe for rapid or controlled infusion, allowing a balanced replenishment of the liquids and ions necessary for the normal physiological and metabolic functioning of the patient in conditions of stress or trauma.

All components are rigorously controlled and comply with pharmaceutical production regulations to guarantee maximum purity and the absence of contaminants or irritants.

Contraindications

Ringer Lactate is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to one or more components of the solution, in particular to sodium lactate, which can cause allergic reactions in predisposed individuals. It should not be used in patients with metabolic alkalosis, as the addition of bicarbonate derived from lactate could aggravate the condition.

It is also contraindicated in cases of severe liver failure, since the conversion of lactate into bicarbonate could be compromised, causing an accumulation of lactate in the blood (lactaacidosis). Patients with hyperkalemia should avoid administration of the solution due to the presence of potassium, which could exacerbate the imbalance.
