Therapeutic indications
Seresto collar up to 8 kg is used for the treatment and prevention of flea infestation for 7-8 months.
Protects the environment surrounding the animal from the development of flea larvae for 8 months.
DAP is one of the most frequent causes of itching and skin problems in dogs and cats in Italy. Itching generally occurs in summer and autumn, however, if the dog lives in a home environment that harbors fleas, it can occur all year round.
Seresto with its polymer matrix technology can be used as part of a treatment strategy to control flea allergy dermatitis, dogs with DAP suffer from intense itching, even the presence of just one flea on these dogs can cause great discomfort.
DAP most commonly affects the terminal part of the back, the base of the tail, the inside of the thighs and the abdomen. The skin in these areas may become hot, red, and swollen, and because these areas are itchy, dogs scratch and lick themselves. Bacterial infections can develop on these abrasions, with pus, dry crusts and hair loss.
If the dog's skin is not treated, it thickens, blackens, loses hair, and can become greasy and crusty.
The product has a persistent acaricidal efficacy against tick infestations for 8 months and a repellent efficacy against tick infestations. Thanks to the active ingredients imidacloprid and flumethrin, the product is effective against larvae, nymphs and adult ticks.
Ticks already present on the dog before treatment may not be killed within 48 hours after applying the collar and may remain attached and visible.
It is therefore recommended to remove ticks already present on the dog at the time of application. Prevention of new tick infestations begins within two days after applying the collar. For the treatment of biting/chewing lice (trichodectes canis) infestation.
The product provides indirect protection against the transmission of the pathogens babesia canis vogeli and ehrilichia canis by the tick vector rhipicephalus sanguineus, thus reducing the risk of canine babesiosis and canine ehrlichiosis for 7 months. Reduction of the risk of Leishmania infantum infection via transmission from sandflies for up to 8 months.
