Therapeutic indications
Support of joint metabolism in case of osteoarthritis.
Osteoarthritis in dogs is a degenerative process of the joints characterized by a deterioration of the joint cartilage and the production of newly formed bone at the joint surface and its margins.
Inside the product we find active ingredients contained in the boswellia serrata plant, called boswellic acids, which have powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and analgesic activity. This makes it of fundamental importance in pathologies such as arthritis and arthrosis, in particular rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
Its mechanism of action occurs through the inhibition of TNF-alpha, as boswellia reduces the production by chondrocytes of collagenase MMP-3, an enzyme involved in the degradation of collagen. Furthermore, the inhibition of TNF-alpha reduces the expression of ICAM-1, a molecule that promotes the migration of inflammatory cells in the synovial fluid in the joints.
Collagen is a structural protein that serves to give the right elasticity and robustness to the skeletal system, i.e. in the skin, ligaments and tendons, cartilage and bones of the dog. UC-II® is the patented name for natural, uncoated type II collagen, which is primarily responsible for the tensile strength and tenacity of cartilage. Especially in the case of stress on the joints due to sporting activity, it can perform its supporting function.
In particular, with advancing age, the amount of collagen in the body is reduced, because production slows down and in the treatment of puppies it ensures the right amount of nutrients for greater strength and correct joint development.
