Therapeutic indications
Folicvet is a food supplement for dogs and cats with particular nutritional purposes.
In particular, Folicvet helps in cases of poor digestion, pancreatic insufficiency and in other cases where a deficiency of Folic Acid occurs.
Folic Acid, or Vit. B9, is a water-soluble vitamin necessary for the synthesis of DNA and RNA and has an important role in cell division mechanisms, erythropoiesis and in various processes involving the nervous system.
Folic acid is absorbed at the intestinal level (particularly in the first part of the small intestine) and is stored in the liver.
Due to the key role that Folic Acid has in numerous physiological processes and its reduced accumulation at the liver level, deficiency states can quickly arise in both dogs and cats.
A deficiency can arise due to an inadequate quantity of Folic Acid administered in the diet or due to the presence of causes that can reduce its absorption, increase its use or excretion
