Arnica montana is a perennial plant native to the mountainous areas of central Europe. Its name derives from the Greek arnakis, which means "lamb's skin", due to the soft consistency of its leaves.
From a botanical point of view it belongs to the Compositae genus; its yellow flowers with central radial veins have earned it the name "mountain daisy"
