Therapeutic indications
Arnica gel is a compound extracted from arnica montana, a native plant of mountainous areas.
Oils and other substances are extracted from the flowers of the plant and used for phytotherapeutic preparations.
The uses of the plant are multiple, as are its therapeutic indications: it has a pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial and blood circulation stimulating action.
Homeopathic arnica in the form of cream, gel and mother tincture is useful for treating various conditions:
- soothes pain caused by trauma, injuries, pulled muscles, sprains, fracture edema, osteoarthritis;
- helps stimulate blood circulation, counteracts drops in blood pressure due to temperature changes and protects the capillaries;
- promotes the healing of wounds and skin lesions;
In humans, it is used in the dermatological field for the treatment of chapped lips, insect bites and acne.
In sports horses, arnica-based gels and creams are used as muscle preparation before competitions and applied to the areas of the body subject to greater strain in order to prevent and reduce the likelihood of trauma.
Similarly, it is widely used on work horses, massaging the limbs to soothe post-activity pain.
Dosage and administration
To apply the gel to your dog or cat, spread a thin layer of product and massage lightly, so that it is completely absorbed to avoid any gastric problems linked to licking and ingestion of arnica.
Even in the case of horses, it is advisable to use gel to be applied directly to the affected area, proceeding with a bandage if necessary.
The application can be repeated up to 3 times a day.
