Galenica Lactated Ringer is an intravenous solution composed of a balanced mix of electrolytes, used to replenish fluids, correct electrolyte and acid base imbalances in the body. The bag contains 2000 ml of solution, formulated for a safe and controlled infusion in patients who require water and metabolic support.
This solution is widely used in hospital and clinical settings to treat states of dehydration, hypovolemic conditions and metabolic acidosis, thanks to the presence of lactate which is metabolised to bicarbonate, helping to correct acidosis.
Ringer Lattato Galenica is presented as a clear and sterile solution, ready for use and packaged in a 2000 ml bag, ideal for continuous administration and long-term intensive therapies.
The accurate composition and electrolyte balance allow effective cellular hydration, maintaining osmotic balance and providing valid support for the functional recovery of the organism under stress or in pathological conditions.
Therapeutic Indications
Galenica Lactated Ringer is mainly indicated for the treatment of dehydration states due to loss of liquids and salts, such as in cases of vomiting, diarrhea, excessive sweating or bleeding. It is also indicated for the correction of electrolyte imbalances, in particular to restore sodium, potassium, calcium and chloride in patients with a deficiency of these essential elements.
The solution is also used for the management of acute and chronic hypovolemia, helping to maintain intravenous pressure and cardiovascular stability in critically ill patients or undergoing surgery.
Thanks to the presence of lactate, which is rapidly metabolised to bicarbonate, this solution is effective in correcting metabolic acidosis linked to pathological conditions such as shock, sepsis or severe burns. It can be administered in hospital, outpatient settings or in medical emergency situations, ensuring complete water and metabolic support.
Furthermore, it is suitable for perioperative use to maintain an adequate plasma volume and prevent hydro-electrolyte imbalances during and after surgical interventions.
Composition
Active ingredients and ingredients: Galenica Lactated Ringer contains a balanced combination of essential electrolytes in the water for injections:.
- Sodium (Na+), in calibrated quantities to maintain osmotic balance and nerve transmission.
- Potassium (K+), essential for muscle contraction and cardiac function.
- Calcium (Ca2+), necessary for coagulation and muscle activity, including cardiac activity.
- Chloride (Cl-), the main extracellular anion that participates in maintaining the acid-base balance.
- Lactate, which acts as a precursor of bicarbonate contributing to the neutralization of excess acids in the body.
The solution is formulated in a sterile and pyrogen-free manner, ensuring safety and compatibility for intravenous administration. The 2000 ml bag is made with biodegradable materials and designed to minimize the risk of contamination during use.
The formulation preserves the stability of the electrolytes over time and during transport, allowing effective use even in emergency or intensive care conditions.
Contraindications
Galenica Lactated Ringer should not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to one or more components of the solution, including sodium, potassium, calcium or lactate. It is contraindicated in patients with hyperkalemia (excess potassium in the blood) or hypercalcemia, as administration could aggravate these imbalances.
It should not be used in patients with severe renal insufficiency or in conditions in which the body is unable to metabolize lactate properly, such as in some severe liver disorders.
The solution is also contraindicated in case of metabolic alkalosis, since the lactate, metabolised into bicarbonate, could further increase the blood pH.
Furthermore, use should be avoided in conditions of pulmonary edema or severe cardiac congestion where excess fluids could represent a further risk for the patient.
