L'apparato gastrointestinale del cavallo è il sistema di organi che regola l'attività intestinale in tutte le sue funzioni, dall'assimilazione delle sostanze nutritive allo scarto delle sostanze non utili per l'organismo.

Come funziona l'apparato digerente del cavallo

Il cavallo possiede un apparato digerente monogastrico. Come negli altri mammiferi esso ha la funzione di scomporre e digerire i cibi traendone i nutrienti utili al mantenimento dell'organismo.

L'apparato gastrointestinale è inoltre l'area in cui sono ospitate la maggior parte delle cellule immunitarie, fondamentali per la protezione di tutto l'organismo dagli attacchi esterni.

Proprio per questa ragione, è importante preservare la salute e la funzionalità dell'apparato digerente, che si riflette in tutto l'organismo.

Un sistema gastrointestinale sano presenta batteri "buoni" e cellule immunitarie correttamente funzionanti, e il suo stato di salute è supportato da un'alimentazione appropriata e dall'integrazione di sostanze minerali e di vitamine.
